William H. Burgess, son of Samuel and Mariah Burgess, was born near Eddyville, Iowa, July, 1869 and departed this life April 4, 1929, at his home near Chillicothe, Iowa.

He was united in marriage November 24, 1897 to Eva May Carl of Rose Hill, Iowa, and to this union one daughter, Ethel, was born. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife and daughter Ethel Harrison of Chillicothe, and granddaughter, Alethia Mae; also three brothers, Vernie, John and Clarence of Burlington, Ia., and three sisters, Mrs. Etta Leeling of Harrison, Neb., Mrs. Arvilla Stuber of Chillicothe, Ia., and Mrs. Maggie Pike of Kirkville, Ia., besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Chillicothe, Saturday at 2:30 and interment was made in the Chillicothe cemetery. The sermon was preached by Rev. J. D. Stevens.
