Retiring in 1980 after 31 years, Robert worked as a printer for the Times Publishing Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was assigned to the 3rd Army under General George Patton. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its choir. He also served as an elder and taught Sunday school.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Schnell DuPlanti, in 1993; and a brother, Theodore DuPlanti.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Swab and her husband, Brian, of Edinboro and Julia Hollabaugh and her husband, Robert, of Cochranton; two sons, Leon DuPlanti and his wife, Katherine, of Shelbina, Mo., and Kevin DuPlanti and his wife, Cynthia, of North East; two brothers, Louis DuPlanti and his wife, Nellie, of Bowie, Texas, and Donald DuPlanti and his wife, Cynthia, of Gainesville, Texas; a sister, Kathryn Edwards and her husband, Ken, of Lindsay, Calif.; eight grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
