Widely Known Business Man Goes
To His Final Reward
Early Tuesday morning, after a long courageous contest with illness, the spirit of H. H. Blackmore crossed the river. Death was due to dropsy and leakage of the heart.
When Mr. Blackmore dropped out of the ranks of the living, there was removed from among us probably one of the most widely known men in the county, due to his long and active life and his gift of making and retaining acquaintances.
Away back in 1884 Mr. Blackmore entered employment with the Wm. Wolf clothing interests, first at Racine, and shortly afterwards in the New York Clothing House, where he remained until his death, being manager of the store for several years.
Mr. Blackmore was a member of the Chester Lodge K. of P. for more than 25 years and was a charter member of Racine lodge No. 461, F.& A.M. past.
Mr. Blackmore was born at Racine, being one of a family of nine. He was past 71 years of age.
Mr. Blackmore is survived by his wife, one son H. J. and one daughter Miriam of this city, four sisters, Misses Sarah and Kate Blackmore and Mrs. C. A. Watson of Racine and Mrs. Val Drummond of New Martinsville and one brother Charles W. of Martins Ferry.
The Funeral services will be held at the residence Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock conducted by Rev. Ross of Grace Episcopal church. Interment in Beech Grove cemetery.
