Mrs. Anna Brilta Johnson was born in the parish of Surteby, Vastergoland, Sweden, October 5, 1853. She came to America in 1884 and settled in Gibson City. On the 15th day of December she was united in marriage to Mr. August Johnson. This union was blessed with eight children, two of whom preceded her in death.
Mrs. Johnson was a very faithful member of the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran church at Gibson City since 1885. She lived a consistent Christian life, whenever health permitted; her one desire was to make use of the privilege offered in the service of the church. Mrs. Johnson had for some years been in failing health and for the last five months unable to leave the bed. The departure of Mrs. Johnson came humanly speaking, not unexpected, for some time it had been anticipated. The summons for Mrs. Johnson to depart this life came on March 16th at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 11 days.
During the siege of sickness she manifested a staunch faith in Christ as her Saviour and was waiting for the Lord to come take her home. Her faith in Christ gives us today the comfort in believing that she is with the Lord. Her firm faith in Christ gives us today the comfort in believing that she has gone to possess the inheritage of the saints of light.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, August Johnson; her children John B. of Pigeon, Mich.; Albert Frankfort of South Dakota; Mrs. Emma Eastman of Mapleton, Minn.; Mrs. Hilda M. Taylor of Cincinnatus, N.Y.; Ernst of Guthrie, Illinois and Edna at home; besides other relatives and many friends. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
The funeral services were held Saturday, March 18th from the Lutheran Church at Gibson City. Rev. Ossian L. Karlstrom of Rankin officiating. Two ladies of the church with Mrs. Frykman in charge sang appropriate songs of hope and cheer.
