LEWISTON, Utah - Byron Boman Glover, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 19, 2012, in Lewiston, Utah, after a two-year.fight.with.cancer.
Byron was born May 4, 1926, in Lewiston to Eldorus Bertrum and Florence Boman.Glover..He.was.the.fourth.of.seven.children.
He attended schools in the Cache County School District. Byron assumed the responsibility of the family farm at age 16 and made a career of farming, 50 years of which was with his son, Brent. Farming was his passion and he was truly a steward of the land, leaving it better than he found it. In 1996, his farm received recognition from the State of Utah, designating it as a Utah Century Farm and Ranch. This included both the Boman and Glover.farms,whichheowned.
He married his sweetheart, LuDean Maughan, on July 20, 1945, in Preston, Idaho. On May 19, 1954, their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They have maintained their home in Lewiston all of their married life with the exception of one year when they lived in Aberdeen,Idaho.
Byron worked for the Cache County School District for 27 years as a bus driver, where he was a favorite of students, faculty and coaches. He retired from bus driving in 1988. Byron has been a member of various organizations including the Jaycee's, the North Cache Riding Club, the first Lewiston Planning and Zoning committee, Cub River Irrigation Board, and Southwest Lewiston Irrigation.Company.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings, including Scouting, Young Men's organization, Elders Quorum president, High Priest group.leader.and.Sunday.school.superintendency.
Byron had a great love of animals, especially horses. He had a gift for training horses and spent many pleasant hours riding them. Throughout his life he enjoyed square dancing, sports, hunting and traveling. He and LuDean spent several winters in Arizona enjoying the winter climate there. They would join friends and family who also traveled south. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a good and faithful friend to.all.he.met.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years; three children, Rhonda (Alan) Ekblad of Kaysville, Utah, Brent (Jenis) Glover of Lewiston, Utah, and Sharla (Terry) Hoffman of Littleton, Colo.; one sister, Dolores (Arlin) Buttars of Lewiston, Utah; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Chantel Petersen; and siblings, Max, Val,.Rhea,.Louise.and.Flossie.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, March 24, at the Lewiston 1st and 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 10 S. 1600 West, Lewiston, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East, Preston, Idaho, and prior to the funeral service.from.10.to.11:30.a.m..at.the.church.
