Sp4 Marvin Burney, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Lenoir County, NC, he enlisted in Maryland.

Specialist Four Marvin Burney was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SP4 Burney served our country until November 11th, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. It was reported that Marvin died when he was tending a fire and an explosion occurred. His body was recovered. Marvin was born on May 22nd, 1947 in Kinston, NC. SP4 Burney is on panel 12E, line 053 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

I had been medevaced when Marvin was KIA. I never knew the details but I'm sure he died valiantly. Marvin was Airborne "ALL THE WAY". We'll meet again and have nothing but "Hollywood" jumps my friend. Mike Hartness, BraveRifle327@AOL.com.

He is the Son of Mrs Cassie Burney, Route 4, Kinston, NC 28501; Mr Marvin D Jones, Route 2, Raeford, NC 28376.

He served with Bravo Company, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, "Screaming Eagles", USARV.

He was awarded The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds,Bronze Star was for heroism.
The Airborne Jump Wings Insignia, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Army Commendation Medal.
