Dr. Harvey Allan Hatch, 87, died November 18, 2001 in Idaho Falls. He was born October 5, 1914 at Heber City, Utah to Dr. Henry Ray Hatch and Mary Leona Miles. The family moved to Idaho Falls in the spring of 1920. He grew up in Idaho Falls, graduating in 1932. He attended summer schools at Ricks College and BYU during his high school years. Later he received a B.A. from the University of Utah and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He received an M.D. degree from John Hopkins University Medical School in 1940. He specialized in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. Dr. Harvey practiced medicine in Idaho Falls from 1940 to 1987, except for the 30 months he served as a flight surgeon during World War II. The Hatch Clinic at 1050 Memorial Drive was organized with his father and brothers in 1950. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and held Medical Certificates in Idaho, Utah, and California. He served as Governor for the Idaho Chapter of the American College of Cardiology from 1968 to 1971, President of the American Heart Association, and served as Idaho Falls City Physician from 1979 to 1987. He married Delsa Vivian Crowley on August 13, 1937, in the Salt Lake City Temple. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1964. He later married Dallas Jordan Burns in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 1, 1968. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission from 1932-1935 to the Swiss-German Mission. He served on the High Council of the South Idaho Falls Stake. He was a dedicated Gospel Doctrine Teacher and loved serving in this calling. He, with his wife, Dallas, served a Spanish-speaking mission to Miami, Florida in 1988-1990. He was fascinated with languages and learned them easily. He traveled extensively and studied the history and culture of many countries. He had a special love for the German people. He returned to Germany during his WWII military service and rendered many humanitarian services to them. He has kept in close association with these choice people throughout his life. He had a thirst for knowledge and the ability to remember the things he studied.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Delsa Crowley Hatch; daughter Laurie Beth Hunt; brothers Bill, John and Joe; and grandson Jaren Bryce Burns. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 24, 2001, at Idaho Falls 2nd Ward, Bishop Bowen Huntsman officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites by a Bonneville County Veterans Team.
