SMITH, LEO S. Of Jackson, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2003 at his home at the age of 99 years. Leo worked 35 years at Tompkins-Johnson, was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge No. 17, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, an avid fisherman, gardener and enjoyed many years of his retired life traveling. Leo leaves behind his daughter, Esther May Gruber (Smith-Spicer); son-in-law, Gene N. Gruber; four grandchildren, Lydia E. (Greg) Howard, Mark E. Speiser, Christian Smith, Daniel Smith; daughter- in-law, Donna Smith; two stepgranddaughters, two stepgrandsons and their families; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, La Vern J. Smith; one son, Stephen L. Smith; and one sister, Lillian G. Hughey. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
