Services for G. Leslie "Pinky" Smith, III, 72, Athens are scheduled for 2:00 P M Thursday in Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Newman officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died March 27, 2012 in Athens.

He was born July 28, 1939 in Athens to the late G. L. Smith, Jr. and Florene Cox Smith.

Following graduation from Athens High School in 1957, Leslie earned a bachelor of science degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University. He served a 32 year tenure with Texaco in the accounting department. Leslie served in the United States Navy and retired with 20 years of service. He returned to Athens for retirement after residing in Spring 22 years.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children Carol Moody Smith and a sister Janet Anders.

Survivors include wife June McMichael Smith, Athens, son Joshua Smith and wife Abbie, Oakwood, Ga., daughters Leiann Brasil and husband Chad, White Oak, Rene Morris and husband Dean, Conroe, stepchildren David McMichael and wife Angela, Beverly Stringer and husband Scott, Dale McMichael all of Athens, Rebecca Lawson and husband David, Tyler, Connie Schultz and husband Chuck, LaRue, sister Glenda Bentley, Palestine, 25 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Mitchell, Larry Anders, James Fite, Eddy Bentley, Don Geddie, Alfred Glen Cox.

The Athens High School Class of 1957 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
