Anna Elisabeth MULLER, mother of Charles "Carl" STOPPEL and his wife Katharina Amelia "Katie" RIEB and their son Christian "Chris" STOPPEL departed on the ship Amalfi from Hamburg, Germany, February 25, 1892. They arrived in New York, New York, USA on March 14, 1892.
OBITUARY
Mother Anna Elizabeth [sic] Stoppel, nee Mueller, was born February 22, 1837, (according to the Russian calendar) at Niedermonjou, Russia; where she was baptized in her childhood, and after she was duly instructed in the doctrine of the Lutheran church, she was confirmed in 1852 at Catharinenstadt.
In 1857 she married Carl Stoppel, who died in 1882 in Russia. In 1892 she came with her second son, Carl, to America, whose children she raised after his death in a true Christian manner.
On Christmas Day she attended services yet, but right after Christmas old age showed on her, and she grew weaker from day to day until the Lord called her to her eternal rest, January 28th, 1920, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 24 days.
She leaves to mourn, her oldest son and his wife, three daughters, (in Russia) twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren in America and eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren in Russia, one sister and daughter-in-law with their families.
"The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow."
Funeral service was conducted at the house of her son, Christian Stoppel, Rev. F. R. [F. W.] Gahre officiating.
