BONIFAY, Fla. -- Mr. Robert Monroe Berry Jr., 84, of Bonifay died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled Friday, April 15 at 1 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point with the Rev. Ryan Begue officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Lanett.

Mr. Berry is survived by his wife, Jeanette Wells Berry of Bonifay; his daughter, Sybil (A.E. "Fudgie") Middlebrooks of Bonifay; two sons, Robert M. (Carolyn) Berry of Chipley, Fla., and Duane A. (Linda) Berry of Lake Wales, Fla.; two brothers, George W. Berry and Scott M. (Sally) Berry, both of Chambers County; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Born Nov. 19, 1920 in Chambers County, Mr. Berry was the son of the late Lera Sessions Berry and Robert Monroe Berry. He retired from the U.S. Army attaining the rank of major. Mr. Berry served in World War II and the Korean Conflict, receiving the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Mr. Berry worked at Sears for 10 years after his retirement from the Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Esto, Fla.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 14 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home and Friday from noon until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. McCarthy Funeral Home of West Point is handling arrangements.
