Jonathan Jordan, son of Thomas and Eleanor [née Parker] Jordan, was born near Cedar Springs, South Carolina on the 3 day of July 1801. He was the brother of Bartholomew and Margaret Jordan.

On March 13, 1823, Jonathan married Miss Mary Ann Miles Marshall, daughter of George and Mary [née Miles] Marshall of Abbeville. Their union was blessed with the following known children:

Jonathan Jordan departed this life on February 13th 1881 (*) at the age of 80 years old. He was buried along side his wife and several children that preceded him to the tomb.

* Jonathan Jordan is also listed on the 1880 South Carolina Agriculture Production Schedule for Abbeville County, Smithville community on the 24th of June 1880.
