Jonathan Jordan, son of Thomas and Eleanor [née Parker] Jordan, was born near Cedar Springs, South Carolina on the 3 day of July 1801. He was the brother of Bartholomew and Margaret Jordan.

On March 13, 1823, Jonathan married Miss Mary Ann Miles Marshall, daughter of George and Mary [née Miles] Marshall of Abbeville. Their union was blessed with the following known children:

Jonathan Jordan departed this life on February 13th 1881 (*) at the age of 80 years old. He was buried along side his wife and several children that preceded him to the tomb.

* The death date on his tombstone is incorrect, per his Death Notice, published in The Abbeville Press and Banner on February 16th 1881... stating his death to have been Sunday, February 13th 1881.
* Jonathan Jordan is also listed on the 1880 South Carolina Agriculture Production Schedule for Abbeville County, Smithville community on the 24th of June 1880.
