"MORRIS - Funeral services for Alvin Edward Gifford was held from the Methodist church, Saturday at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. L. E. Pitkin officiating, and burial in the old part of Hillington cemetery. Mr. Gifford passed away at 1:20 Wednesday morning at Fox hospital, Oneonta, from the effects of a fall suffered Monday while working at the village waterworks. He slipped, fell, and struck on a plank. Tuesday he seemed to be better, but later in the day grew worse and was then taken to the hospital where he lived but a short time. Death was due to internal injuries. Mr. Gifford was born in Morris, November 4, 1867, the son of Jefferson and Adeline (Potter) Gifford. January 14, 1895, he married Miss Anna Gibson of Pittsfield ... Surviving are his wife, one niece, Mrs. Howard Coon; one great niece, Mrs. Glenn McWilliams, both of Morris; and one great nephew, Charles Coon of Maple Grove, as well as several cousins ..."
