Kathleen Mary Scherff Anderson, 61, of Lexington, died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Born January 7, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Scherff and Geraldine Josephine Snook Scherff.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph D. Scherff.
Kathleen was a member of the Carmelite Secular Order and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; she was a Captain in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from 1971-1975.
Surviving are her husband, Clinton Lee Anderson of Lexington; sons: Michael Nelson Anderson of South Carolina; John Stuart Anderson and wife, Tamara of Lexington; a grandson, Thaddeus Drew Anderson of Lexington; sisters: Theresa A. Scheff of Lexington and Nancy Louise Lackaye and husband, Nate Daniel of Maryland; a brother, Thomas A. Scherff and wife Connie of Kansas; and a nephew, Jacob D. Scherff.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Lexington. Burial will be held at 4 p.m. at the Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, 3900 13th St. N.E., Washington, DC 20017 or the Oxford Church Cemetery Fund, 143 Oxford Lane, Lexington, VA 24450.
