Lawrence served as a Sergeant, Company B, 350th Infantry, 88th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 15, 1941, prior to the war, in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in woodworking and also as Single, without dependents.

Lawrence was "Killed In Action" near the Firenzuola-Imola road in Italy during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
