Born January 13th, 1804 to parents Luther Blake and Polly Chapin Blake. For many years he was a prominent citizen of Brooklyn, NY. He owned a successful store in Manhattan at 1754 Chrystie St., which sold straw goods, primarily Hats.
He married his first wife, Mary R. on August 6th, 1830. They had 3 daughters together, Mary, Angenette Blake Willis, and Susan Blake Mixter; and one son, Byron C. Blake, who died at just one month old. Just 17 days after the birth of daughter Susan, 1st wife Mary passed at age 28, following a short illness,
Just 8 months later, he married his second wife, Susan W. Eames . Together, they had two daughters: Elianna, and Emma Blake Guild; and one son: Henry Clay Blake. 2nd wife Susan died December 6th, 1849 at age 47.
He married his third wife, 2x widowed Julia A. Foster Blake on October 22, 1850. Already a mother of four from her previous marriages, she had her fifth child at the age of 43: their son, William Foster Blake.
