A native of Cornwall, Ontario, Cooper played the position of Right Wing for teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), International Hockey League (IHL), OHASR, OIHA, and the MCHL. At 5'07", amd 160lbs, he played for the Montreal Canada Cement from 1916 to 1917, Hamilton Tigers 1917 to 1924, Boston Bruins from 1924 to 1927, Montreal Canadiens from 1926 to 1927, Detroit Cougars from 1927 to 1930, Detroit Falcons from 1930 to 1932, Windsor Bulldogs from 1934 to 1935, and the Detroit Olympics from 1934 to 1935. Cooper also coached the Cleveland Falcons from 1936 to 1937 in the IAHL as there Head Coach.
