Lester Brocklehurst b. abt 1914 son of Lester W Brockilhurst and Edith Dupree
Lester a Sunday school teacher and known as a good boy, was nick named the "crime tourist." or the "tourist murderer" was sentenced to be electrocuted by "Old Sparky," Aug 27, 1937 at the Tucker Prison Farm, in Arkansas for a crime spree that he was responsible for in at least 18 states and killing of three men. He was captured in 1937 in NY along with his accomplice girlfriend 18-year-old Bernice Felton dau of Abraham and Ruth Felton of Rockford ILL And transported to Arkansas for Trial. They asked to be married in jail, Lester confessed to the murders and some 40 robberies and said he did it all for the love of his girlfriend....A alleged pregnant. Bernice Felton denied the claims and said she only participated as she was in fear of her own life.... She was acquitted.... Among those murdered were John Albin Theander of Ogle County, Illinois, Jack Griffith of Texas and Victor Gates of Little Rock Arkansas.
