Freda I. Cooper, 100, of Albany died Sunday at an adult foster care home in Albany.
She was born in Garfield, Ore., to David N. and Phebe S. (Fletcher) Bridenstine.
She married Charles Arthur Cooper on Jan. 2, 1920, in Vancouver, Wash.
Freda lived in Marion County for a time and had lived in the same home in Crawfordsville for 66 years. She was a custodian at Crawfordsville School for 26 years.
Freda came to Albany in 1994 and lived here since that time.
She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America.
Freda enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed going to the Albany Senior Center for lunch.
During World War II, Freda was a volunteer for the Ground Observer Corps.
She is survived by grandchildren Sharon Gore of Albany, Michael Keller of Portland, Cathy Grant of Bend, Robert Pratt of Beaver Creek, Billie Ann McCullum of Woodburn, Chuck Cooper of Palmdale, Calif., Gloria Victory of Anchorage, Alaska, and Cheryl Murphy of Wendover, Nev.; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Cooper, on Aug. 24, 1994; children Alice Ostrom, David A. Cooper and Ella Marie Keller; brother Leslie Bridenstine; and sisters Pearl Feller, Mary Jones, Emma Boyer and Jessie Greenly.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Willamette Memorial Park.
