Julia was the daughter of Merrell George Thomas born in GA and died in Calhoun Co, Alabama and his second wife Martha Elizabeth A Marsh. Merrell was deaf and dumb and worked as a blacksmith and farmer but raised two big families.
Julia was one of his last children. Julia married Lindsey Green "Dock" Phillips abouut 1887/88 in Calhoun Co, Alabama as his second wife after the death of his first wife. Julie was about 26 years younger than her husband. She was about 16 when they married.
Julie and Dock had five known children: Lindsey Lee, Charles Roston, Lottie F, Beulah Lorene, and Mattie. All of Dock Phillips family had moved to Van Zandt County, Texas by 1896 when Lottie was born there. They made their home in the Martins Mill area. Dock died in 1935 in Athens, Henderson, Texas. Julie died in 1951. Both are buried in Holly Springs Cemetery in Martins Mill, Van Zandt Co, Texas.
