HANNIBAL - Charles D. Glascock, 95, of Hannibal, died at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Beth-Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Oakwood Christian Church. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal.
Mr. Glascock was born April 19, 1906, in Ralls County to Charles C. and Viola Dryden Glascock.
He was married to Zelma Ruth Mirtzwa on Nov. 29, 1926, in Paris. She preceded him in death Aug. 5, 1989.
Survivors include one son, C.K. (Charles) Glascock of Plymouth, Minn.; two daughters, Sandra Ledbetter and Marlene Hatton, both of Hannibal; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Enoch Matson Jr. of Hannibal.
The family wishes to name 14 surviving grandchildren, Randy Hatton of Decatur, Ill., Marla Wisdom and Sandi Terford, both of Quincy, Ill., Toni Park, Jeff Hatton, Chris Hatton, Debbie Winn, Kim Dryden and Scott Ledbetter, all of Hannibal, Brad Hatton of Dallas, Texas, Chuck Glascock of Wichita, Kan., Carole Carr of St. Paul, Minn., Steve Glascock of Minot, N.D., and Brian Glascock of Barksdale Air Force Base in the state of Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by eight sisters, Alice Parrish, Julia Matson, Lillian Billings, Mary Wichern, Etta Pomfrey, Amy Shelton, Birdie Conley and Ethel Minor; one brother, Robert Matson; and one great-great-grandson.
Mr. Glascock retired from the International Shoe Company Rubber Plant in Hannibal and later worked for the city of Hannibal. He was a lifelong Oakwood resident and lifelong member of the Oakwood Christian Church. He was formerly active in the Mark Twain Chapter of the National Camping Association. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed pets.
Memorials may be made to the Oakwood Christian Church.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Glascock, Brian Glascock, Steve Glascock, Randy Hatton, Jeff Hatton and Scott Ledbetter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Quint Dryden, Travis Dryden, Justin Hatton, Brad Hatton and Chris Hatton.
