Harriet A. Barr, 85 years of age and widow of an old soldier, died at 1 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Shada, at 720 W. Sycamore S t. Death was due to stomach trouble. For 2 years, Mrs. Barr had suffered, but she had been bedfast since last August.
She has been in Carthage 12 years, during which time she has always made her home with Mrs. Shada. Her husband has been dead 20 years.
Eight children survive her, they are Ransom and Frank Barr, of Mankato MN; William Barr in Idaho; Harry Barr in Montana; Mrs. Eliza Cassil (Castle) of Quincy, IL; Mrs. Lillie Sinott of St. Louis; Mrs. Bell Adams of Reeds Spring, Missouri; and Mrs. Shada.
Mrs. Barr was born in Luzerne County, PA and spent the early part of her life there. Then she moved to MN, and in 1888 with her husband, moved to Taney County in this state. It was from Taney County that she came to Carthage to make her home with Mrs. Shada. Mrs. Barr is a member of the Advent Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning from the Dunkard Church on Forrest St. Elder George Bernhart will be in charge. Burial will be in Oakhills cemetery.
