Floy Grace Black Bates, 70, a resident of Pine Bluff, died March 25, 2012 at Whispering Knoll Assisted Living Center in Pine Bluff.

Born November 24, 1941, in Bakersfield, California, she was a daughter of Acie Leonard and Myrtie Fielding Black.

Mrs. Bates was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. Floy Grace Black married John Owen Bates on May 28, 1960, in Altheimer. Mrs. Bates was a beautician, and a member of Good Faith Carr Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Carl Leonard Black.

Survivors include her husband of almost fifty-two years, John Owen Bates of Pine Bluff; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Taunja Bates of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Karen Bates of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Christian Carroll, Allison Bates, and Kyle Bates; one brother, Winfred Black of Benton; Cathy Switzer of Great Falls, Montana.

There will be no visitation. The family plans a memorial service at a later date.
