After the death of Abiel in May 1772, Abigail married Dr. John Chamberlain in 1775. He was a physician and surgeon in Dutchess County, New York, were he founded the first medical society in the county. On 14 April 1775, he represented Amenia on a committee to elect Dutchess County delegates to the Provincial Convention. He was a Lieutenant in a regiment of "Associated Exempts" during the Revolution (New York in the Revolution, P. 285).
Abigail died in August 1776.
