BATTLE GROUND - Joseph "Ross" Dawkins, 68, died at 11:10 AM Saturday [Nov. 4, 1972] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he had been a patient since Oct. 16. A native of Tippecanoe County, he was a 1922 graduate of Battle Ground High School and had resided here since 1932. He married Helen Louise Reynolds on May 5, 1927, in Lafayette; she survives.

Mr. Dawkins retired in 1969 from Ross Gear Division of TRW Inc. after being employed there 42 years. He was a member of Battle Ground United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 313 of which he was a past master, and also a member of Pleasant Grove Grange.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Smith of West Lafayette; one brother, George Dawkins of Rt. 13, Lafayette; two sisters, Louise (Mrs. Melvin) Johnson of Hobart and Mary (Mrs. Dwight) Dunbar of Anderson; and two grandchildren, Denise and Brian Smith.
