E. Dawson Whittaker Services to Be Held Tomorrow


Services for E. Dawson Whittaker, 53, will be held from the Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home at 1 p.m. tomorrow, with burial in the Pines Cemetery in Opportunity, Wash.

Mr. Whittaker, president of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, died Saturday night in a Spokane hospital. He underwent major surgery Tuesday.

Mr. Whittaker was born in Bradleyville, Mo., and came to Spokane in 1909. For the last 12 years he had been a poultryman in the Spokane Valley. His home was at N2203 Pines, Opportunity.

Mr. Whittaker was active in various Spokane Valley groups.

He was installed as president of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce January 8. He was a past president of the Pinecroft Community Club, and was secretary-treasurer of the Washington State Recreation Council.

He was also a member of the Valley Kiwanis Club, the Valley Toastmasters Club, Opportunity Grange, a member of the local 86 International Association of Machinists, and the Spokane Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. E. Dawson Whittaker, Spokane County Democratic Chairwoman, and a sister, Mrs. Ollie Hughes of Spokane.
