CLINTON -Emma Jane Bouwhuis Summers, 86, of Clinton, Utah, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, March 22, 2012, at Country Pines Assisted Living Center of natural causes.

She was born August 5, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Christian and Mary Hart Bouwhuis. She grew up in Wilson Lane and graduated from Weber High in 1943.

Her love of roller skating at the old Berthana Skating Rink led her to a chance meeting of a young World War II veteran, Ellis (Barney) Summers in 1946. They were married on April 30, 1947 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married for 52 years.

Emma and Barney took up residence on the old Summers homestead in Clinton where they lived for over sixty years, raising their two daughters, enjoying life in the open country. She worked for two years at the old Navy Supply base, and as a part-time cook at Clinton Elementary school where she forged many relationships. She was active in the Clinton 1st and 2nd Ward Relief Societies. She and her family spent numerous family vacations, fishing in Yellowstone Park and at Marsh Lake in the Uintah Mountains.
