Mrs. Eunice Austin Swaringen, age 87, of 25650 Dunlap Road, Albemarle, NC 28001, passed away on Thursday, March 22nd, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle, NC.
Her family will receive friends from 3 PM to 5 PM on Saturday afternoon at Stanly Funeral Home and her funeral will be at 3 PM on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Ross Tracy will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born December 4th, 1924 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Swaringen was the daughter of the late W. Carl Austin and Geneva Barbee Austin.
She was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Company and a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. She was active in the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Union Chapel and was a loving and good mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Huff" Swaringen; son, Johnny Speights; daughter, Amanda Diane Speights; and sister, Juanita Blake.
She is survived by one son, Alvin David Speights, Jr. and wife Patsy of Albemarle, NC; one sister, Sylvia Smith of Albemarle, NC; one grandchild, Danny Misenheimer of Rockwell, NC; one great-grandchild, Connor Misenheimer; three step-grandchildren: Tony Biggers, Ronnie Biggers, and Jennifer Beachum; and four step-great grandchildren: Tristin Biggers, Taylor Biggers, Keeley Beachum, and Keigan Beachum.
