Herbert Lee Eggleston, 72, of Nags Head, NC, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007.
He was born July 16, 1934 in Buena Vista, VA, a son of the late Frank Merriweather And Grace V. Eggleston.
He was a member of Stone Church of the Brethren, Buena Vista, VA. Mr. Eggleston was a Korean War veteran, served with the second Marine division in the first major use of the helicopter in Marine combat support role. He was retired from Reynold's Metals Company, Richmond, VA after 27 years.
He is survived by a son, Jeff Eggleston, Kill Devil Hills, NC; daughters, Sheree Pledger, Virginia Beach, VA and Laura Butler, Powhatan, VA; sisters, Mary Anne Smith and Barbara Jean Moore, Buena Vista, VA; and a brother, Robert (Bobby) Eggleston of Picayune, MS.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Harrison Funeral Chapel, Lexington, VA, with Pastor Michael Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
