Gilbert Andrew Abachiche, 72, was born November 22, 1939 and died March 21, 2012. He was one of 14 children born to Filberto and Josephine Abachiche. He was raised by his grandparents, Jose and Juliana Mondragon in Saguache, Colo., until he joined the Marines. He then returned to Colorado as a family man. Over the next 30 years he raised his three children, worked and retired as a meat cutter.

Most of all he loved fishing, camping, hunting and spending time outdoors. He always made time to spend with his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially his kids. There were always plenty of laughter and jokes to go around. He was also a Denver Broncos fan too. Gil was always willing to be the extra, and sometimes only pair of hands, when someone needed him.

He is survived by his beloved companion of 16 years, Julie Quintana; his childen Gilbert Jr., Stacey, Pamala, Christina, Stacy and eight grandchildren, also by his sisters, Amelia and Ceneobia, and brothers, Ernest, Levi, Eddie and Walley.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 29, at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m., both at Romero Metro West Family Chapel, 1805 So. Sheridan Blvd. in Lakewood. Interment to follow at 1 p.m. Staging "A" at Ft. Logan National Cemetery with military honors.
