Hester White (1890-1964)
David Hester White was a frequent preacher for congregations along the Randolph County / Ripley, County, Missouri line, in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Born September 2, 1890, in Doniphan, Missouri, Hester White was the son of Sam White. He received the best education common schools of the area could afford, but his desire to preach led him to County Line Bible School in Bakersfield, Missouri. Some of his 1911-12 class mates were Randolph County men: John H. Harper, T. J. "Jake" Waddle, and Burley Lemmons. Before settling in Luxora, Mississippi County, Arkansas in 1930, as a farmer and minister, he preached in several states, established a number of congregations and baptized hundreds of people. He and his wife, Stella, reared a large family. White died at the Osceola Hospital, December 19, 1964, following a lengthy illness. His memorial service was conducted at Blytheville, December 21, 1964, by Benny W. Hester, and his body was laid to rest in Dogwood Cemetery three miles south of Blytheville. 2

White -The church at Luxora suffered a great loss In the recent passing of David Hester White. Brother White passed away in Osceola on December 19, following a lengthy 1llness. In his younger years was an effective gospel preacher. He preached in several states, established a number of congregations and baptized hundreds of people. Brother White and his faithful companion reared a large family. The funeral was conducted in BlythvWe, Ark., December 21, 1084. The writer endeavored to speak words of comfort to the family and friends. His body was laid to rest in Dogwood Cemetery three miles south of Blytheville.-Benny W. Hester, "At Rest."
