Mrs. Teel passed from this life after a brief illness on Thursday, March 22, 2012 twelve days after celebrating her 96th birthday. Aileen was born on March 16, 1916 in Fisher County, TX and was the oldest child of Andrew and Dovie Brunson. Aileen married Elmer Teel of Hope, NM in Alamogordo, NM on July 17, 1933. Aileen is survived by five children, sons and daughters-in law, Allen and Betty Teel of Roswell, Joe and Janet Teel of Pensacola, FL, daughters, Sue Ann Hill of Tulsa, OK, Peggie Usrey of Lubbock, TX and daughter and son-in law, Patsy and Bill Glenn of Georgetown, TX. Aileen is also survived by nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces and many friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Elmer, in 1972, her parents, one brother, two sisters and two sons-in-law. Prior to moving to Texico in 1957, she and her family lived in Portales. After the move to Texico she was active in Hamlin Memorial Methodist Church, Texico Women's Club, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and Texico Senior Citizens. Aileen loved all the friends of her children and all were welcomed into their home where many, even in later years, remembered the happy times they spent there. A homemaker during the years when her children were at home, Aileen became secretary of the Methodist Church in Farwell in 1963 and served the congregation faithfully for 38 years before retiring in 2001. Aileen also served as a part-time postal employee at the Texico Post Office. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 26, 2012 at Hamlin Memorial Methodist Church in Farwell at 10:30 a.m. CDT. with Rev. Keith Niehaus officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Methodist Children's Home, the Methodist Home in Waco or Hamlin Memorial Methodist Church in Farwell, TX. The family also wishes to thank Daniel Otero, PA, his office staff and the emergency room staff at High Plains Hospital for the care and concern shown to Aileen during her brief illness.
