Guy Irving Waltz died suddenly at his home in Waldoboro on Wednesday morning, October first. The well known resident of the town was born in Waldoboro on June 23, 1875, the son of Granville O. and Addie Thurston Waltz. Guy Waltz left Waldoboro when he was 18, going to Boston to work for a candy concern. Later on he was employed at the Skinner Silk Company selling to stores in Boston. He was general secretary for the YMCA in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and a chorus director and tenor soloist signer from coast to coast over a period of 40 years. During World War I, Guy Waltz worked at the Bethlehem Steel Company in Quincy, Mass. From 1929 to 1936, he was associated with the Strand Theatre in Amesbury, Mass. The later years of his life were devoted to singing and reading of his original poems in hospitals and homes. Guy Waltz was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waldoboro. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Bertha Wimberley Waltz, one daughter, Mrs. Arland Simmons of Waterville. He also leaves three sisters, Stella M. Waltz of Dorchester, Mass., Dorothea of Newburyport, Mass., and Isobel of Vassalboro, and one brother, Roland T. of Dorchester, Mass. Funeral services are to be held at the Waltz Funeral Home in Waldoboro on Friday, October third, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Philip G. Palmer of the Village Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Central Cemetery in Waldoboro. It is the expressed desire of the family that flowers be omitted.

Guy Irving Waltz, 77, former Amesbury resident and for several years doorman at the strand theatre here, died last Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Simmons, Waterville, Maine. His home town was Waldoboro. Mr. Waltz who lived here during the 20's and the early 30's is remembered not only for his association with the theatre but as a song leader, soloist and poet. After returning to his home state of Maine, he did considerable singing in hospitals and was known for many good deeds in behalf of the sick and unfortunate. He had recently written a series of poems dedicated to the mothers of boys killed in the Korean War. He leaves his wife, Bertha, and daughter, Mrs. Simmons, who is a graduate of Amesbury High School. Relatives also included a brother, Roland of Portland and 3 sisters Miss Dorothea Waltz a teacher at Newburyport High School, Miss Isabella Waltz of Waldoboro, and Miss Stella Waltz Dorchester.
