Edward Joseph Abdella Edward J. Abdella, age 70 of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Christmas morning, his favorite day of the year, surrounded by his beloved wife and family in Port St. Lucie. Ed was born in Danbury, December 16, 1937 to the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Abdella) Abdella. He was the youngest brother of Fred Abdella, Adele Yamin, Lillian Abdella, and Josephine Chelso, all of whom preceded him in death. He was happiest with family and his beloved horse, Jim. Ed worked for Power's Construction Company and was a master mason. His was a member of both Local 22 and Brick Layers and Trowel Trades Local 1. With Jim, his Belgium Blond, he belonged to the Eastern Draft Horse Pull Association. He is survived by wife, Bonnie Abdella of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a son, Edward S. Abdella of Meridian, Miss.; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Maryellen Abdella of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Coleen and Donald Cote of Bethel; and seven grandchildren, Hayes, Joey, Jimmy, Dallas, Shelby, Jennifer, and Nicholas. The Liturgy of the Resurrection will take place on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society, Suite 159, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897, The Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Road, Kensington, CT 06037 or to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450. The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
