Her Pitts' ancestery, is somewhat common to Nancy Brewer's, and dates to year 1545 (Hutchins Dorset, 14.-90)

Sometime before 1800, several inter-related families arrived in Warren county, Georgia from Nash and Halifax counties, North Carolina, including the Pitts family, county where Nancy married but ending in Troup county, Georgia around late 1820's.

Census: 1820 Capt Jesse Ivys District, Warren county, Georgia with hubby & one slave.

Census: 1840 District 656, Troup county, Georgia with husband, eight children & six slaves, home at what now is Broome & Main streets. (town also has a street named Guinn)

Census: 1850, age 50 La Grange, Troup county, Georgia with husband & six children in household of a Richard W Allen (possibly her son-in-law).

Following her demise at least two sons served the Confederacy during Civil War, 10th of ten known children; Broome, James A. ~ D-14 Ala.; lost leg at Wilderness, Va., May 5, 1864.
3rd of ten known children; Broome, John R. ~ K-13 Ga.; Jan. 20, 1864; disabled Feb. 28, 1865. Also son-in-law, John C Guinn, served as a Confederate officer.

Death: in La Grange, Troup county, Georgia.

The nearly ninety year old Broome homestead (image found on a postcard) was removed at corner of Broome & Main to make way for the 1871 created La Grange Bank & Trust company's new building in 1917.
