Mrs. Martha Jean Houston Morgan, 83, of Sturgis, MS; passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 17, 2012.
She was a teacher at Macon, Sturgis, and Ackerman. She taught math at Winston Academy and retired from Starkville Academy. She was a member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the U.S.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Proctor D. Houston and Roma Dale Calhoun Houston and a brother, P.D. Houston, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank Ladell Morgan of Sturgis, MS; daughters, Lynn Morgan (Kenny) of Starkville, MS; and Rozanne Stewart of Memphis, TN; and a son, James G. Morgan (Kathy) of Canton, MS; grandchildren, Brooks Freeman (Tommy), Candace Sullivan, Chad Johnson (Jamie), Alaina Ward (Tyler), Gabrielle Stewart, and Andy and Jason Morgan; great grandchildren: Haven and Laurel Freeman, Jackson and Troy Sullivan, Addie Beth Johnson, Jack Johnson, and Morgan Mae Johnson; a sister, Betty Ector (Hugh); and a sister-in-law, Jean Houston Benison.
Visitation for Mrs. Morgan is scheduled for Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Morgan Chapel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ralph Windle.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
