Charles Edward Sellers, or Charlie as he was known by his friends, passed away at his home in Houston, Texas on March 17, 2012 after a short illness.

Charles, who was the son of Charles Roy Sellers and Eldora Edward Sellers, was born in Opelika, Alabama on March 12, 1933. He graduated from Clift High School in June 1951 where he was a star running back for the Opelika Bulldogs and was selected as an All State football player. He participated in the high school All Star game in Tuscaloosa in 1951. After graduating from high school, Charles attended Auburn University graduating in June 1955 with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and a Second Lieutenant Commission in the United States Army. While in college, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) Fraternity. After a six month tour of active duty with the Army Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Charles returned to Birmingham, Alabama as an employee of American Cast Iron Pipe Company. Subsequently, he was employed by Bridgestone Engineered Products Company, from which he retired as Territory Manager. He was a member of Auburn University Alumni Association, the George Petrie Society, and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering "Ginn Society."

Charles was married to the late Kaye Merrit Sellers of Quincy, Illinois. He is survived by his sister, Helen Sellers Caldwell and husband Lon of Springfield, Virginia; and his brother, Henry K Sellers of Huntley, Illinois. Also surviving are his Niece, Mary Caldwell Schoen and husband Ira of Annandale, Virginia; four Nephews, Stephen Roy Caldwell and his wife Susan of Bossier City, Louisiana; Mark and Andrew Sellers of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; and Matthew Sellers and wife Tara of Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Services: Family and friends will convene on Sunday, March 25 at 2:30 PM at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy, Illinois before proceeding to a graveside service at Quincy Memorial Park. Charles will be buried in Quincy, Illinois, alongside his wife, Kaye.

Memorials: The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Salvation Army in Charles' name.
