Shrewsbury, PA; - Linford L. "Lindy" Amspacher, Age 89, formerly of New Freedom, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Gloria J. (Diehl) Amspacher. Born in Glen Rock, PA, he was the son of the late L. LeRoy and Juanita Mary (Shearer) Amspacher.
Lindy was a life member of the New Freedom VFW Post 7012 and Austin L. Grove American Legion, member of the International Assoc. of Fire Chiefs, Keystone State Fire Chiefs Assoc. as well as Rose Fire Co. He was the New Freedom Fire Chief from the mid 1960's to the mid 1970's. He was formerly employed with the New Freedom Borough and worked for Barmac in Shrewsbury, PA, which was a division of York Building Products, for 15 years. Lindy proudly served in the U.S. Navy from May 20, 1946, to September 4, 1952.
Surviving is a daughter, Bonnie Bailey and her husband, Gary of New Freedom, PA; and a son, Ricky Amspacher; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Services and interment are private and at the convenience of his family in accordance to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lindy's memory to: Rose Fire Co., 200 E.
