Lavada M. Brickell, 91, of Jersey Shore passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at Manor Care surrounded by her family.
She was born Jan. 13, 1918 in Hillsdale, a daughter of Howard and Mary Longenecker Dishong.
Lavada graduated from Montgomery Township School, Indiana Co.
She was the wife of the late Arthur Brickell who passed in 1989.
Lavada attended the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church.
She retired in 1991 from Leader Nursing Home. She had worked earlier in life at the Allegheny Creamery for many years.
Lavada enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, quilting, needlepoint, embroidery, game shows and spending time with her family.
She is survived by nine children, David of Fairbanks, Alaska, Allen of Cogan Station, Eunice Brickell of Haneyville, T.O. of Colorado Springs, CO, Karen (Rob) Brickell-Chard of Pikesville, MD, Susan Brickell of Jersey Shore, Carl (Valerie) of Colorado Springs, CO, Eileen (David) Dougherty of Linden, Erlene (Jack) Hauser of Jersey Shore; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Lavada was predeceased by eight sisters, three brothers and a grandson Jeremy Dougherty.
Family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to Lavada's Life Celebration service beginning with a visitation on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. "A Life Celebration Home" 1002 Allegheny St.
Services will be held at 11am Tuesday at the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church, 220 High St., Jersey Shore with Rev. Kenneth L. Lynn officiating. Burial will be held in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
