JOHN M. BAKER
John M. Baker, 82, formerly of Dorset, died Tuesday night at Fairview Nursing Home, where he had been a patient for six years.
Born in Dorset, he was the son of Aaron and Mary (Haskins) Baker and had received his schooling in Dorset. He had been retired for several years, but a long period was employed at the Barrows House in Dorset.
He first married the former Gertrude Lamphear. She died in 1940. He later married the former Alice Butler, who survives.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Rufus J. and Elias A. Baker, both of Dorset; Fred Baker of Hebron, N.Y.; 10 daughters, Mrs. Emma Carangio of Riviera Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Mary Greene of Arlington, Mrs. Betty Perry of Cuttingsville; Mrs. Virginia Colvin of Arlington; Mrs. Lila Gregory of North Adams, Mass.; Mrs. Clara Sherman of Lake Park, Fla.; Mrs. Ruth Kenyon of Scotia, N.Y.; Mrs. Jane Green of Plymouth, Vt.; Mrs. Shirley Holland of Hebron, Conn.; Mrs. Phyllis Barbeau of North Adams, Mass.; 48 grandchildren; 85 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 pm at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester Center with the Rev. Hal C. Miller, pastor of the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert, officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset.
Calling hours at the funeral home are from 7 to 9 pm Thursday.
