Hilda M. Harris, 91, died Monday evening, May 10, 2004, in the Oelwein Health Care Center after a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, by the Rev. John Kerr. Burial: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Elliff of Solon and Delpha Tressler of Hazleton; 12 grandchildren, Cindy (Kevin) Miller, Terri (Tom) Ledesma, Sue Tressler, Steve Elliff, Rebecca Hoskin, Julie (Randy) Smith, John (Linda) Elliff, Peter (Pam) Elliff, Michael (Larissa) Elliff, James (Therese) Elliff, Jeffrey (Misty) Elliff and Beth (Brad) Barvinak; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Hansel of Elkader; and three sisters, Jean (Mrs. John) Mayo of Elkader, Iola (Mrs. Richard) Krephle of Dubuque and Carmen (Mrs. Del) Palmer of Alamo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur O. Harris, on Sept. 6, 1985; two brothers, Paul and Donald Hansel; two grandchildren, Paula Elliff and Eric Elliff; and two sons-in-law, Gordon Elliff and Carl Tressler.

Hilda Mae Hansel was born Oct. 16, 1912, in Osterdock, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Cora (Hyde) Hansel.

She married Arthur O. Harris on Oct. 14, 1932, in Galena, Ill.

Hilda was a longtime Oelwein resident and was a cook at the Uptown Cafe and Eagle Cafe, both in Oelwein, for many years. She had been a resident of the Oelwein Health Care Center since October 1998.
