He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War and worked for the City of Mount Dora's Fire Department and became "Fire Chief" from 1971-1989. He is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Christine. Surviving are step-sons, Neil, George, Charlie, Chris and Fred Stoothoff; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and brother, Earl (Carolyn) Griggs. A funeral service will be held March 23, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora with burial to follow. Arrangements are by ALLEN J HARDEN FUNERAL HOME in Mount Dora.
