Margaret Bowen was born August 31, 1867 in Benton County, Iowa. She was one of the ten children of Patrick and Catherine Bowen. She attended the schools at Cherokee, Iowa and taught school near there several years. Later, she taught school at Rock Rapids, Iowa. On November 28, 1894, she was married to Edward McGuire and this couple lived on a farm near Rock Rapids. In 1909, Mr. and Mrs. McGuire moved with their family to Cavour, South Dakota. Mr. McGuire passed away at this place July 9, 1915. Mrs. McGuire moved into the town of Timber Lake living with her daughters until her death Saturday evening, April 17, 1954. She was 87 years old. The relatives who survive her passing are: sons, James and Anthony (Pat) McGuire, daughters, Mary Agnes McGuire (23 Sep 1897-13 Jun 1957, Brown County, South Dakota, burial unknown), Iva Margaret, Mrs. Jay Coyle and Aileen McGuire; one sister, Mrs. Agnes (Bowen) Murphy.
