US Army General. He graduated from Stanford University in 1941 and was Honor Graduate of his ROTC class. Ott completed the Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses and Command and General Staff College, and served in Europe during World War II. After the war he was President of his family's business, Ott Hardware, and continued his military career with the National Guard as Commander of the 981st Field Artillery Battalion. In 1950 and 1951 he served with the 40th Infantry Division during the Korean War. In 1952 he was promoted to Brigadier General as Commander of the 40th Armored Division Artillery. He was assigned as Assistant Division Commander in 1958, and in 1960 he was promoted to Major General as the division Commander. In 1971 he was named Deputy Commander of the California National Guard, and in January, 1974 he became Commander of the 40th Infantry Division. Later in 1974 he was appointed Director of the Army National Guard. After retiring from the military in 1978, Ott was Director of Arizona's Division of Emergency Services. His awards included the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and Bronze Star Medal. (Bio provided by: Bill McKern)
