Audrey Lee McCord was the second child of David F. & Annie Victoria (Myers) McCord. She was born 6 Mar 1894 at Sutton, Braxton, West Virginia and died 12 Dec 1974 in Doddridge Co., West Virginia. She married on 5 Mar 1916 Oil Creek, Lewis Co., West Virginia to James Fleming Brinkley. Their residence was at 360 Broad St, Weston, West Virginia. Fleming was born 11 Oct 1892 at Oil Creek, Lewis, West Virginia, the son of Robert Brooks & Mary Ann (Houghton) Brinkley.
Audrey was an accomplished seamstress, having served the public in that capacity for many years. She was secretary and treasurer of the Aaron McCord Family Organization from 1958-1965, and had a perfect attendance record at the reunions.
In 1948 she helped organize the All-States Hobby Club at Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1973 she had not missed a national annual convention through its twenty-five years of history, having served as recording secretary, vice-president and trustee for eleven years.
As a hobbyist, she was a collector of spoons, stamps, first day covers, postcards, postmarks, photographs, obituaries, TB seals, salt and pepper shakers, miniature pictures and genealogical data. She also designed and sold postcards. Audrey and Fleming had two children, Charles & Paulene Brinkley.
By a strange co-incidence, both Fleming & Audrey met death on a railroad track, a quarter century apart. He died while switching freight in a B & O yard at Weston, Lewis Co., West Virginia on 5 July 1949, and she while walking track near West Union, Doddridge Co., West Virginia. Both are buried in the Mitchell Cemetery at Roanoke, West Virginia.
