Charles H Freers, 57, of Route 3, died Saturday at University Hospital after a short Illness. Services were today at George L Gray Funeral Home with the Rev Hershell Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Palo Alto Cemetery in Newton.

Mr Freers was born June 15, 1911, the son of Harry R and Mabel Dykes Freers. He married Geraldine Baty Sept 15, 1946. He moved to Iowa City in 1946 and had been a house mechanic for the University of Iowa Dormitory Services.

He was a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints of Muscatine and the Moose Lodge of Iowa City.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, Fred of Independence, Mo., Edward of Coralville, four grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs Alice Zahniser and Mrs Dorothy Roth both of Davenport; and Mrs Jennie Schmidt and Mrs Evelyn Church both of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
