Margaret Ruth Morris Davis, 85, a resident of Salina, passed away at the Salina
Regional Health Center on Friday, March 16, 2012.

She was born February 4, 1927 in Council Grove, the second daughter of Jacob P. and Mary Jane Metcalfe Morris.

She grew up in Council Grove and graduated from Council Grove High School.

She attended Emporia State Teacher's College and taught in several one room school houses in Morris County.

She married Kenneth E. (Mick)Davis December 18, 1949 and together they raised two daughters, Victoria and Janice.

She and Mick enjoyed travel, spending time wandering through their beloved Kansas Flint Hills pastures, playing golf and fishing on the Neosho River.

One of her fondest memories was of an idyllic childhood with wonderful days spent swimming, playing with the dogs and kittens and horseback riding on her grandparents farm.

Margaret was a wonderful homemaker and devoted wife and mother. While living in Mankato, KS she worked at the Jewell County Extension Office and the Jewell County Record. After living in Salina for 15 years they retired to Council Grove in 1987 where she was a member of the Council Grove Chapter of the Philomathian Club. In August 2011, they returned to Salina to live near their daughter, Janice, and her family.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth, two daughters, Victoria West and Janice James, their husbands, Thomas West of Williamsburg, VA and Tommie James of Salina. Mick and Ruth have five granddaughters; Heather Millard and her husband, E. J. of Pleasant Hill, MO, Elizabeth James, Jaimmie James, Katharine James all of Salina and Pamela West of Williamsburg, VA. As well as, seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jane Randle of Council Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, William Randle.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012 at
Greenwood Cemetery in Council Grove with Pastor Clarence Sumner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Morris County Historical Society,25 N. Adams, Council Grove, KS 66846.
