Jerome F. Arteman, 49 of St. Joseph, died Oct. 4 at the VA Medical Center, Danville.
Mr. Arteman was born Aug. 14, 1939 at Normal, the son of John and Mary Louise Riggs Arteman. He married Opal Bear June 17, 1967 at Champaign. She survives.
Also surviving are his father of Bloomington; a son, David J. Arteman of St. Joseph; a daughter, Lisa Davis of Fithian; a grandson; and two brothers.
Mr. Arteman was a member of St. Joseph Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964 and had been a Champaign policeman and a photographer for WCIA-RV, Champaign. He was a self-employed carpenter. He served with the St. Joseph E.S.D.A. as an emergency medical technician.
Funeral services were held Oct. 7 at Freese Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Rev. Hugh York officiated. Burial was held in GAR Cemetery, Homer.
