Eva Appleman, daughter of Jesse and Christina Smith Appleman, was born in the town of Webster, Vernon county, on Oct. 11 1856, and passed away at her home on April 24, 1938, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 13 days.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Jefferson Perkins on Feb. 6, 1877, and to this uinion were born nine children: Jesse, Emery, Jerome, Mrs. Jim Wirts, Andrew, Mrs. Walter Hughes, Inamae, Mrs. Charlie Masrud and Ernest. Inamae passed away at the age of three years in 1894.
Mrs. Perkins had been in very poor health for many years and had been confined to her bed for the past three months. She bore her pain and suffering with great patience.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother, a friend to all, always reads to lend a helping hand. She was converted and joined the U. B. church at Sugar Grove at the age of 17 years. She was from a family of fifteen children: two brothers, three sisters, three half-brothers, and six half-sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing eight children, 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; one brother Geo. Appleman of Westby; one sister, Jane Wallace, of Ontario; one half-brother, Phillip Appleman of Westby, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. Her husband preceded her in death in 1926.
All that loving hearts could suggest was done for her, but human help was of no avail and in the end was defeated, and quietly she passed away.
