Gwen was born in Jamestown, NY. She was the eldest of four children, all orphaned in 1924, when she was just fourteen years old. She spent some time in the Gustavus Adolphus Children's Home with her siblings then went to live with their aunt Marion C Kimball.
Gwen and her husband Orion were headed out on vacation when a gravel truck rear-ended them, and two other cars, as they were stopped for an earlier traffic accident involving an overturned truck, at the bottom of a hill.
They were survived by their son Bruce and Gwen's siblings: Malcolm K Park, Gretchen M (Park) Fahey and Raymond R Park Jr.
